Lead Te Uru Rākau's engagement with communities and landowners to deliver Partnership objectives and help us achieve the planting of one billion trees by 2028!

About the Role│Kōrero mō te tūranga

As our Manager One Billion Trees (1BT) Partnerships you will lead Te Uru Rākau's engagement with communities and land owners to deliver on the objectives of the Partnership section of the 1BT Fund and directly shape the low carbon future all New Zealanders are striving to achieve. You will unlock the potential of underutilised land and realise the achievement of our tree planting goals by lowering planting barriers and support the planting of the right trees, in the right place, for the right purpose.

Leading a regionally dispersed team responsible for the implementation of the 1BT partnerships programme you will establish effective management strategies to support high team performance and effectively deliver the 1BT Partnership funding on behalf of the Government.

Core responsibilities for the role:

  • Manage the delivery of the 1BT Partnership Fund.
  • Lead the implementation and delivery of our forestry initiatives by building and nurturing relationships with stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and management to the Partnerships team.
  • Identify and implement processes and performance monitoring mechanisms.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships that deliver outcomes, achieve fund objectives and provides a seamless delivery of service for applicants.

About You│Mōu

Optimising the utilisation of land and establishing what is possible with partnership funding requires constant questioning and the pushing of boundaries. Bring your creative thinking and negotiation skills to connect systems, processes and policies together to ensure efficiencies, provide strategic oversight and provide innovative solutions to how we achieve our forestry goals.

To be successful in this role, you will offer:

  • Proven people management experience with demonstrated ability to lead, motive and develop people and achieve results through others.
  • High level ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and Ministers and gain their trust and respect.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex programmes of work.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Treaty Principles and the Crown's obligation to Māori
  • Ability in applying Te Reo Maori
  • Proven financial management and reporting skills, including understanding of Government's financial management process.

This is an opportunity for partnerships with stakeholders across New Zealand and there will be travel required to achieve this. Preference is for this position to be based out of Rotorua, however as you will be leading a geographically dispersed team, we will accept applications from candidates based in other regions.

Salary range for this role is $130,000 to $160,000 depending on skills and experience.
