Job Description

What you will do

As Technical Advisor – Electrical you'll be responsible for providing maintenance support policy and technical advice on operational equipment and advice on the management of specialist equipment. You'll develop cost effective solutions that are operationally feasible and safe within the bounds of the engineering regulatory framework, and with due regard to the principles of maintenance support.
What we need

Your knowledge of current NZ Electrical legislation such as the Electricity Act, Electricity Safety Regulations and all Electrical AS/NZS including bio medical and Apprentice Training standards, as well as your experience within the electrical industry and be a registered Electrician.

You'll need to have a strong understanding and appreciation of Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) principles, with expertise in specific areas i.e. Engineering Support, Maintenance Support, Training and Training Support, Supply Chain Management and Safety Cases.

In order to be successful in this role you'll also need to be proficient with SAP (or other corporate ERP systems such as JDE or Oracle) and have excellent interpersonal skills.
Who we are

The NZDF Equipment Management Organisation (EM Org) will provide a single point of accountability for the through-life management of specified equipment across the Land, Air and Maritime environments thereby ensuring that all equipment receives consistent strategic logistic support whilst in service in NZDF. 

This organisation will be accountable for the day to day delivery of through life Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) and management of equipment enabling NZDF to meet its business and operational objectives to the appropriate standards.

The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
