Job Description

  • Do you enjoy writing software and working with technology?
  • Do you have a passion for exploring new ideas?
  • Are you curious about how things work?

If you love to lead by example, but still recognise the value of team-work, and want to help protect New Zealand national security in an increasingly dangerous world then we would like to hear from you!

The New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) has an exciting opportunity that will give you freedom to explore and build innovative new ways of addressing the many security challenges that New Zealand faces.

The role will see you responding tactically and providing development support for an important NZSIS collection capability. You will be developing relationships with internal and external partners to ensure the NZSIS is a technology thought leader and is keeping up with both public and classified technology trends.

You will be working within a small but very capable analyst team, contriving new systems and ways of working to ensure they can work smarter before harder. There will be plenty of opportunities to work with interesting technologies and systems, some of which you will not find elsewhere.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate creativity, pragmatism and initiative. We are looking for someone who can spot opportunities and is a self starter.

Our ideal person will have:

  • Experience with writing software and a good attitude for adopting new languages
  • A passion for technology and a strong desire to develop a career applying it
  • A wide range of experience and interest in technology - a generalist
  • Great communication and relationship management skills
  • A Tertiary-level qualification in a technology field or equivalent experience

About us

We work in a unique and dynamic environment where no two days are the same. Our team is dedicated, supportive and collaborative. We are passionate about what we do and are driven by a desire to advance New Zealand's national security interests and protect Kiwi values and way of life.

We offer a range of benefits that include professional development opportunities, free health insurance and an on-site gym. You will have opportunities to travel overseas if you so choose.
