Job Description

Adviser – Exporter Regulatory Advice Service

  • Have you got what it takes to help exporters be more successful?
  • Would you like to be part of a team helping meet the needs of our exporters through adding value to our information, advice, and education?

About our team

The Exporter Regulatory Advice Service (ERAS) supports New Zealand exporters by making it easier to understand MPI's requirements to export. We are customer focused and work collaboratively with multiple teams across MPI and other government agencies to support exporters.

You will be contributing to a customer-facing function that adds real value by helping our primary sector exporters understand the rules they need to meet to export, and develop new ways to make exporting information easier to find, navigate and understand. Drawing from principles of agile, you will lead projects to improve the way we engage with exporters by challenging the status quo and testing of minimum viable products.

About our role

We're looking for a customer-centric Advisor / Senior Adviser with a can-do attitude and the motivation to make a real difference for New Zealand exporters.

You will be a superstar at navigating and building relationships with internal technical teams and external customers alike, including demonstrated success working across business groups in a collaborative manner.  You will bring strong customer service focus and have the ability to listen, understand and translate regulatory requirements into easy to understand information and have proven experience providing advice to business customers on what they need to do.

Exceptional written and oral communication skills are essential to the role. You will be a problem solver who thinks strategically, is unfazed by ambiguity or complexity and has the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast changing environment. Experience leading multiple pieces of work of moderate size and complexity is preferred and experience or interest in the primary sector or small business would be an advantage. An understanding of the principles of service design, user experience and project management methodology is desired.

This role is based in Wellington and some domestic travel may be required.
