BAR AND DUTY MANAGER (PARLIAMENT)

Te Papa stands proud as an iconic national building housing the treasures of the nation and is a vibrant destination for both national and international visitors. ICON Venues is an operational function of our Commercial and Visitor Services directorate, and along with our on-site cafes and functions operations, we also supply food and beverage services at Parliament.

We are seeking a true hospitality professional to support our front of house operations team at our Pickwicks Bar and Bellamy's by Logan Brown Restaurant based at Parliament.  Hours of work will be 40 per week, primarily Monday to Friday.  We need you to confidentially oversee our bar service operations, and lead by example to create a positive, hard-working team environment.  You will work hand in hand supporting our Bellamy's Restaurant Manager in all aspects of bar service, and operational management of Bellamy's including being the licensed Manager on duty as required and in the Managers absence.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing daily beverage operations at Pickwicks and Bellamy's by Logan Brown Restaurant, alongside our Bellamy's Restaurant Manager
  • Ensuring all team members follow ICON Venues's policies, procedures, practices, service and operational standards
  • Motivating and training our front of house beverage team to deliver a prompt and customer centric experience
  • Liaise with Te Papa's food and beverage management team around production and operational needs

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Good knowledge of beverage service including wine, cocktails and coffee
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively and promptly resolve problems and customer issues
  • Understanding of food hygiene principles and practices
  • Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail
  • Holds a current Managers Certificate
