We're looking for a new Regulatory Manager, within the Information Assurance and Cyber Security Directorate (IACD) of the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB). This is a permanent position based in Auckland.

The Regulatory unit provides Information Assurance services to the country's public telecommunications operators and any organisation seeking to launch satellites from New Zealand.

This position has responsibility for the leadership and day to day operation of GCSBs Auckland facility, including all its permanent and temporary staff.

As our Manager Regulatory you will:

  • Be responsible for leading a team of highly skilled telecommunications and security professionals located in Auckland and Wellington
  • Have responsibility for the implementation of information assurance strategies
  • Assist in directing and managing system-level information assurance matters in New Zealand
  • Make a valuable contribution to senior management decision making both within IACD and the wider GCSB

We are looking for a well-rounded, experienced people leader, who has a passion for delivering value to customers and for creating a high performing team environment.  Ideally you will have a genuine interest in information security (InfoSec) and be passionate about make a positive impact through your actions and the actions of your team.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in leading teams of technical specialists and enabling them to succeed in their roles
  • Experience in the application and management of telecommunications and information system security technologies and countermeasures to exploitation
  • Experience in the successful delivery of work programmes and managing a busy portfolio of internal and external stakeholders, as well as demonstrating competence in managing capital and operating budgets
  • A strategic outlook, and the ability to create ambitious, yet credible work programmes, and to  work alongside partner agencies to deliver
  • A developed network of contacts in the telecommunications, IT or InfoSec industries
  • Experience in creating a collaborative team environment that encourages open communication, responsiveness and accountability

You will need to be highly customer-focused with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with customers and stakeholders.

Experience in the telecommunications or space sector is desirable but not essential.

Salary from $132,005 - $198,007 per annum

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.

You must be able to obtain and maintain a high level security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
