Social Media and Content Advisor - Wellington

About the role:
We believe tamariki are taonga. In this role, you'll help us build a country where everyone shares this belief.

You'll work with the Social Media Manager and your colleagues across Oranga Tamariki to create engaging content, support reactive community management, provide expert advice, and deliver actionable insights. You'll always have your eyes and ears on, spotting opportunities to share authentic stories with New Zealanders across multiple channels. 

Both your left brain and right brain will get a workout in this role – you'll be able to seamlessly switch from developing creative content to crunching the numbers for a channel performance dashboard. 

This is a dynamic, hands-on role requiring skills in strategy, written communication, content management, social media community management, paid advertising, video content creation and analytics. 


Your main areas of focus will be:
•    Planning, creating, repurposing and publishing content (including written, photo and video) across all channels – including social media, websites, internal communications, and advertising
•    Engaging in two-way conversation with the public – delivering a fast, friendly and helpful service to people who engage with us via social media
•    Facilitating an effective and timely planning workflow by managing integrated content calendars and championing processes
•    Monitoring social feeds to spot opportunities, trends and issues relevant to Oranga Tamariki and the communities we work with
•    Reporting on content, channel performance and community sentiment 
•    Being a go-to content and social media expert – coaching and upskilling colleagues to support our strategy


You'll join the small, close-knit Engaging all New Zealanders team who have significant skills and experience in marketing, social media, video content production and community engagement.  From time to time you may support other communications, engagement and marketing projects.


What you will bring:
•    At least two years' experience in a social media, communications, digital content or editorial role - a tertiary qualification is desirable
•    Functional expertise, including experience working with Facebook Business Manager, Adobe Creative Cloud, Google Analytics, social media management tools and web content management systems (Silverstripe is an advantage)
•    Empathy and sensitivity towards diverse communities and all cultures
•    An open mind, positivity, energy and creativity
•    Ability to quickly establish relationships and navigate change 
•    Proficiency in Te Reo Māori and a thorough understanding of Te Ao Māori would be an advantage
