Senior Software Developer/Software Engineer

The Team

Our Information Services Group works hard to support our organisation by providing digital solutions that enable improved health outcomes. Within that, the Capabilities team supports hundreds of applications, some of which are hosted for use in District Health Boards across New Zealand.

It's an exciting time to be part of our team, we're in the initial stages of a major cloud transformation project which requires an evolving approach and new ways of working.

The Role

In this role, you will be responsible for

ISG maintains hundreds of applications as well as the devices and systems to support them. You will be developing and implementing automation technology and associated processes to deploy new applications. You will also be modernising existing application infrastructure and applications so that they become are part of the same Dev Ops deployment and management approach.

You will be building repositories of code and processes that take that code into a staged environment. You will also be developing test automation to prove the staged environments. You will be available 'out of hours' to cover cutovers of staged systems into production.

Essential skills required for this role:

  • Frameworks: .Net Framework, ASP.Net Core, MVC, Bootstrap CSS
  • Programming languages: C#, JavaScript/Typescript, T-SQL, HTML 5, jQuery
  • Databases: MySQL, MS-SQL, ORACLE
  • Scripting: PowerShell, Windows Batch, Python, Groovy, Maven
  • Version Control: SVN, GIT, TFS
  • Web Services, AJAX, Restful Web APIs

Experience with the following is an advantage:

  • Cloud technology: Azure, AWS
  • CI/CD Tools: Jenkins, IBM Udeploy, Concourse
  • Infrastructure automation: Ansible, Chef
  • Scrum or other Agile methodologies
