Fixed-term role to November 2020

We are seeking an inquisitive and driven Design Analyst interested in joining the Population Insights team in Christchurch. The focus of this role is the initial design-investigation and development work for measuring the coverage (undercount and overcount) of the next census, in collaboration with our key customers and stakeholders.

The Population Insights unit is within our wider Products, Services and Insights branch, where the key statistical data and information is delivered from. Population Insights delivers a range of products including Population Estimates and Projections, International Travel, International Migration, key Vital Statistics (births, deaths, marriages, civil unions, divorces, abortions), and Census Coverage (including the post-enumeration survey). We are a compact unit, but with a whole lot of exciting and innovative work going on. This role will report to the Manager Census Coverage and is based in Christchurch.

As a design analyst in Population Insights you will:

  • Be focused on researching and designing innovative and efficient ways for developing our methods, systems and tools
  • Have a strong customer focus, and be committed to engaging and collaborating with our customers during the design journey
  • Apply sound analytical thinking to produce outputs that are fit for purpose
  • Be familiar with statistical coding languages such as R or SAS
  • Provide expert guidance and advice to peers.
