Job Description

There is no better time for you to join Inland Revenue. We're currently undertaking a major change programme as we transform the New Zealand tax and social policy system and make tax simpler for New Zealanders. This is not just a technology upgrade, this transformation includes changing the way our people work so they're empowered to work smarter and more flexibly with the right tools to help them.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Communications Advisor to join us on a fixed term and/or secondment basis until the end of September 2020. The Communications Advisor will support the three work streams of the Intelligence Led Programme (Data and Analytics, Intelligent Information and Information Knowledge Management).

The focus of the role will be on IR's internal audiences, from senior stakeholders through to our front line people, across all stages of the Intelligence Led Programme lifecycle.

Reporting to the Communications & Stakeholder Management Lead, you will support the Intelligence Led Senior Communications Advisor providing communications delivery and contribute to communication planning.

You'll be in charge of the following:

  • Working with the Senior Communications Advisor, deliver and maintain the Intel Led communications and stakeholder management plans to internal audiences within Inland Revenue
  • With the Intelligent Workplace Change Lead, ensure the communications plan aligns with the change schedule and deliver programme/work stream messaging across all phases
  • Working closely with the Internal Communications Team to merge BT messaging into IR communications and create compelling content from complex information
  • Working with other advisors in the Communications & Stakeholder Management team, develop content for the BT channels including newsletters, scripts, presentations, the internet, intranet and original media.

    To perform in this role, you'll need to demonstrate the following experience/skills:
  • Experience across a broad area of communications disciplines, including written communications, intranet, A/V and social media;
  • Programme experience and/or experience working in a fast-paced business result focus environment;
  • Outstanding written skills and proven ability to turn technical information into engaging readable material without losing the meaning;
  • Ability using Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Excel, as well as A/V technology;
  • A motivation to support others by being a great team player and having the ability to work independently with a proactive mind-set;
  • Effective at multi-tasking and comfortable juggling a variety of unfinished tasks!

    This is your chance to excel in a business transformation environment that is of a scale and significance unmatched in NZ right now. You can expect a challenge but also to have fun in a supportive team setting.
