Job Description

Interested in New Zealand's international trade?

Have some understanding of imports and excise?

Want to be part of a team that manages Customs revenue audit programme?

Revenue Assurance have got two roles available as a Senior Customs Officer in our Trade Assurance team based in Auckland.

The Trade Assurance team manages Customs' revenue audit programme, providing assurance to Government over the accuracy of both the revenue and data we collect from importers, exporters and excise manufacturers. The Unit provides that assurance by undertaking post clearance (after goods have left Customs control) risk-based audits and verifications checks on importers, exporters, excise customers and declarants acting on behalf of those bodies. We manage three separate audit sub-programmes: import, export and excise.

You work with some of Aotearoa's largest companies, meeting with executives and management, advising on Customs and legislative requirements regarding their import and export activity. This is your chance to work independently.

About you...

You will have excellent relationship building skills and can easily get along with the people. You should understand the role description; learn and perform the technical/functional accountabilities; and identify the role specification, all detailed in the Position Description document.

We offer flexible working arrangements and full training will be provided.

To apply, please submit a CV outlining your relevant experience and a cover letter to tell why you would like to work for Revenue and Assurance and let us know if you are applying for a role in excise or imports within Trade Assurance.
