About the role:

This is an excellent opportunity to undertake Financial Accounting within a supportive and fun environment where you will utilise your technical accounting and Government reporting knowledge.

As our Senior Financial Accountant (Reporting), you will ensure our financial accounting is completed in line with Treasury requirements and relevant accounting standards.  You will be responsible for preparing external reports to Treasury and a key link with our external auditors.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete and ensure all Treasury reporting forecast requirements are met including forecast tracks and baseline updates, estimates and supplementary estimates
  • Provide information and support to Finance team members and the wider organisation about financial accounting practices and/or processes
  • Contribute to the development of Finance strategies in alignment with overall business objectives
  • Contribute to the preparation of the financial statements
  • Develop accounting policies and provide technical accounting advice

 The successful candidate will have:

  • Completed relevant tertiary study and be a CA member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) or equivalent
  • Experience working in the NZ public sector and with the Machinery of Government
  • Sufficient practical work experience covering off the key responsibilities
  • Strong working knowledge of IPSAS /NZ IFRS
  • Exceptional written presentation skills for drafting briefings to ministers
