Job Description

Senior Adviser (Animals and Aquatic) flexible work options

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role

The Senior Advisor/Adviser is responsible for animal health risk assessment and technical advice in support of risk management decisions made by the Animal Health and Welfare branch and across the wider Ministry for Primary Industries.

You will be required to have the capability to provide the scientific analysis underpinning risk management decisions. You will also be:

  • Project scoping
  • Planning and reporting
  • Conducting risk analyses
    • Hazard identification
    • Risk assessment
    • Developing options for risk mitigation - including the scientific evaluation of the efficacy of those options against the identified risk.
    • Provide scientific expertise across MPI in the relevant fields

 

Mōu - About You

Our ideal candidate would be a strong written and verbal communicator with proven presentation skills. They will have the ability to plan, set priorities and meet deadlines. They will also need:

  • Strong relevant experience in a similar field
  • Experience in risk prioritisation, risk analysis or risk management
  • Experience in managing projects
  • Experience, knowledge and interest in animal disease
  • Experience in gathering, presenting and managing scientific information
  • Peer review scientific documents

Salary range for this role is $75,000 to $91,000 depending on skills and experience
