Job Description

  • Fixed-term or secondment opportunity (approx. 1.5 years)
  • Located in Wellington initially, then Dubai (approx. April 2020)

Who we are

On behalf of the New Zealand Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) has established the New Zealand at Expo 2020 team. The team is managing the design, build and operation of the New Zealand Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

What you'll be doing

New Zealand's Expo 2020 Leverage Programme will include a number of official visits to Dubai during Expo 2020 - ranging from the New Zealand Governor-General, Prime Minister and Government Ministers, through to government department senior officials, business and regional delegations, academia and school groups.

The Missions and Visits Programme Manager will establish and lead the New Zealand at Expo 2020 Logistics Hub. The Logistics Hub will ensure a coordinated, consistent and centralised approach to all official visits to Expo 2020 Dubai, acting as the key connection between New Zealand planning and on-the-ground delivery of logistical support in Dubai.

This is a fixed-term role and will begin initially in Wellington (for establishment and planning phase) and transition to Dubai (for delivery phase) in approximately April 2021.

What you'll need to be successful

You must be experienced in managing logistics, visits and event management at a Government level including experience managing high level/high profile visits of VIPs and/or foreign dignitaries.

You will demonstrate project management mastery, excellent budget management, and proven ability to deliver complex projects on-time and on-budget. You will be comfortable taking direction, leading people, and 'getting stuck in' to achieve results (this role will be both leading and doing).

Furthermore, you will ensure exceptional stakeholder relations and be an excellent team player capable of ensuring that many interested parties are well-managed and happy.

You must hold New Zealand citizenship and be able to obtain and maintain a Confidential New Zealand Government security clearance. Please check your eligibility here:

Why you'll love working here

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an exciting programme of work that will promote New Zealand as a country to trade and partner with, invest in, study and visit. Please read the position description and learn more about Expo 2020 on the job posting on our careers site.
