Job Description

Principal Advisor, Business Implementation and Support – Wellington (permanent and fixed term roles)

Do you want to join a Ministry and influence change for all New Zealanders? Improve outcome for our tamariki and rangatahi in this exciting Principal Advisor role. We have a permanent and a 5 month fixed term or secondment (including external) contract available. 


What you will do?


The Principal Advisor role works across operations supporting our leadership team from a strategy perspective. In this role you will be providing direction, systems thinking and advice to operational Deputy Secretaries and General Managers. You will lead operational initiatives, identify continuous improvement opportunities and will write key documents for the Leadership team and the Minister. 


What you will bring?


We are looking for an experienced strategic advisor with a background and/or understanding of social work. You will lead multiple pieces of work and be a subject matter expert.

 You will also have the following skills and experience:

•    Strong strategic and analytical skills
•    A solution focused approach with solid problem solving skills
•    Experience leading complex projects
•    Building strong relationships across multiple ministries
•    The ability to simplify complex information in writing and presenting key documents          systemically
•    Leading programmes and influencing at a senior level
•    Ability to solve problems, be self-driven and have a solutions focused approach
