Job Description

New Zealand First have an opportunity for an experienced Research and Policy advisor. You'll have a good understanding of New Zealand First principles and the ability to implement policy.

This role will be a part of the New Zealand First Political Office team and will assist New Zealand First MPs and Chief of Staff in developing and delivering policy and research.

Reporting to the Chief of Staff, and working closely as part of the research and policy function for the Political Office, you will enjoy a collaborative and stimulating working environment.

A snapshot of some of your daily responsibilities and accountabilities include:

  • analyse and provide advice on policy, legislation and appointments
  • prepare MP's for meetings, provide support and attend meetings with other parties
  • present written and oral briefings to the Caucus on proposed policy
  • undertake research and prepare oral and supplementary questions
  • assist with the development of New Zealand First coalition agreement
  • oversee specific allocated portfolios and procedures
  • research and develop information to ensure positive coverage of NZ First issues and MPs
  • respond to inquiries from journalists, media outlets and the public.

This is a full-time, events-based position. Some flexibility of working hours will be required according to the business of the House.
