Job Description

The TEC - Te Amorangi Mātauranga Matua is a small Crown agency with a big job to do – ensuring New Zealanders have the skills and the knowledge they need to ensure lifelong success to build a great country. We lead the Government's relationship with the tertiary education sector in New Zealand and provide career services from education to employment.

We are looking for two Executive Officers to join the TEC. One of the roles is permanent and is in our Corporate & Finance Directorate, which is responsible for the development and delivery of financial and business support services to enable the organisation to operate effectively.

The other role is for six months fixed term and is in our Strategy and Design Directorate, which enables the TEC to take a more strategic approach to its role through the development of strategies to influence the tertiary education and careers systems. This role will commence in mid-January 2020.


What will you be doing?

  • Providing friendly, professional, highly efficient and effective administrative support to the Deputy Chief Executive and the wider team, including diary management, drafting papers, minute taking, and email management.
  • Preparing supporting materials and making arrangements for meetings.
  • Proactively supporting the work of the directorate through administrative work and interactions with key internal and external parties.

What can you bring?

  • EA or administration background, you will need to be able to prioritise your work as well as others.
  • Ability to work in an agile and fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong influencing skills.
  • Microsoft Office skills - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
