Job Description

Are you someone who has a passion for New Zealand's unique biodiversity, has great leadership skills and enjoys working in a team? If yes, then this is the job for you.

The Hauraki District is looking for a skilled and knowledgeable threats ranger to join their biodiversity team.

This is an 18-month contract where the focus of the role will be to delivery part of our district threats program.

 

Your background should include:

  • Strong and proven team management and leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong conservation field work experience in animal pest management

 

You will be responsible for:

  • Implementing successful aerial pesticide operations with the Hauraki Team
  • Consultation and liaison with stakeholders such as Iwi and landowners
  • Supporting the team lead in the Southern Coromandel Forest Park pest control operation

 

The ideal applicant will:

  • Have a tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience in biodiversity
  • Have knowledge and experience in planning and organising complex projects
  • Have proven specialist skills and experience in biodiversity management in particular, animal pest management
  • Have suitable technical skills for collecting and recording data, GIS mapping and reporting
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be able to maintain positive working relationships across a broad range of people and groups
  • Fit into the culture of the Hauraki team

 

It is essential to have a very strong commitment to health and safety (HSE) and exhibit exemplary HSE practice.

 

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
