Senior Business Adviser - New Zealand Food Safety 

Fantastic Senior Business Adviser role within MPI's New Zealand Food Safety Business Unit supporting business finance analysis, reporting, cost recovery and the Crown Budget bid process functions of the Business Unit

Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role

We have an exciting and challenging role in MPI's New Zealand Food Safety Business Unit.  The Senior Business Adviser has recently been created to provide management, implementation and monitoring of the Crown Budget bid process and to provide support in business finance analysis, reporting and cost recovery. The role sits within the Business Oversight Team which is one of two functional teams sitting within our Planning, Oversight and Performance team.

You will be working within a team to deliver effective Crown Budget bids and enhanced business analysis services and you will have the opportunity to work on new and interesting projects.  You will enjoy working in a collaborative and forward thinking way and have the ability to build strong relationships with a variety of people, be results focused, and be able to work in a fast moving, agile environment.

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Relevant technical/professional experience i.e. finance or business
  • Experience in the machinery of Government and the NZ Government Budget bid process
  • Experience in project management
  • Excellent relationship and communication management skills
  • Comfortable with influencing and delivering outcomes to Senior Leadership
  • Excellent analytical problem solving and critical reasoning skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The Planning, Oversight & Performance Team are a shared service Business Unit that plans, develops, measures, reports and improves the process and procedures across the system for the New Zealand Food Safety Business Unit and the wider Ministry. We ensure the activities of the Business Unit are clearly aligned to the Ministry's strategy and core delivery systems and provide thought leadership for the business.

Working closely with our colleagues across the Corporate Services and Compliance & Governance Branches, and having an external MPI focus, you will be responsible for ensuring adequate and robust support is provided to the New Zealand Food Safety Business Unit. This will ensure they are able to deliver on effective Crown Budget bids, business finance decisions and cost recovery initiatives.

Salary range is for this position is from $91,162 to midpoint $107,249 dependent on skill set and experience.
