Job Description

  • Regionally based position in the Provincial Development Unit (PDU)

About the role

The Regional Advisor is a pivitol role providing day to day support and enabling programme delivery to the Te Ara Mahi team.  You will support Principal Regional Advisors and Senior Regional Advisors' engagement with key stakeholders, contribute and develop practical options to help achieve outcomes and provide clear, accurate and well-written briefings which target specific audiences.  Developing relationships within and outside the Branch is of critical importance, as is the ability to work with ambiguity and remain focused on achieving customer outcomes in a timely manner. 

 

Skills and experience

We are looking for experienced, collaborative, customer focused individuals who have a passion for learning, who can apply their experience and knowledge of policy project management processes to achieve great outcomes.  To be successful in the role you will need:

  • Demonstrable experience project delivery within work programmes and within Agencies
  • The ability to establish and maintain strong relationships at all levels of an organisation, developing trust and credibility
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A collaborative approach to achieving outcomes
  • A good understanding of how government functions
  • To show how you build knowledge for different issues quickly and use information from multiple sources to draw conclusions
  • To be a team player, working collaboratively with and through others
  • Tertiary qualification
  • The legal right to live and work in New Zealand

 

About the Unit

The PDU has been established to be the focal point within Government for regional economic development, and to design and implement the Provincial Growth Fund (PGF).

Through the PGF central government has committed to investing $1billion per annum over 3 years in regional economic development with the aim of lifting productivity potential in the provinces. Its priorities are to enhance economic development opportunities, create sustainable jobs, enable Māori to reach their full potential, boost social inclusion and participation, build resilient communities, and help meet New Zealand's climate change targets.
