Job Description

About Crown Law

Crown Law is at the heart of the New Zealand public service. We have been providing services to Government for over 140 years. With some of the most important legal work in New Zealand, every day our staff are providing legal advice to departments and Ministers, appearing in the highest courts and supporting the Solicitor General to deliver on her constitutional role. We also provide leadership for the networks of Crown Solicitors, public prosecuting agencies and the more than 850 lawyers who work in Government.

About the role

With records dating back 140 years this is an outstanding opportunity to serve the Crown in a busy, high performing Government department that has refreshed its strategic direction and is focusing on Information Management as a strategic priority.

We are looking to appoint a Records Manager in a newly created role, reporting to the Chief Information Officer. The role will lead, manage and deliver the Information Management goals for Crown Law.

You will be expected to drive the development of an Information Management strategy and work across the business and with suppliers to implement and support the new strategic direction. At the same time you will lead a small functional team and be able to roll your sleeves up to get things done. You will also have an opportunity to influence at an executive level to ensure that there is a clear link between implementing the information management approach and the organisational vision and strategy.

You will need to be an experienced Records and Information Management leader and practitioner who can demonstrate success in delivering change and implementing fit-for-purpose information and records management systems and processes that enable the business. You will be a strong communicator and enjoy leading change and developing strategies that deliver results. You will also have the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with the wider sector and central government agencies.

This position is full-time and based in Wellington.

The successful candidate must be a New Zealand citizen, complete a Ministry of Justice Criminal Records Check and be required to obtain and maintain a high level of National Security Clearance, so utmost integrity and trustworthiness is required.
