Job Description

Due to the previous staff member progressing up to another position within the team an exciting opportunity has presented itself with the Reefton Recreation/Historic team.

Are you someone who is passionate about maintaining recreation and historic assets and providing quality visitor experiences?  If yes, then this is the job for you.


As a Ranger (Recreation Historic), you will contribute to projects related to Heritage sites as well as projects surrounding infrastructure for visitors, including:

  • Manage assigned project work
  • Assisting with contracts and monitoring the contractors work
  • Management of facilities, amenities and sites
  • Visitor information
  • Visitor hazard management systems
  • Construction and maintenance of sites and assets


The successful applicant will have:

  • A current First Aid certificate is desirable
  • A full Drivers Licence is desirable
  • A working knowledge and experience using computer databases and asset management information systems is desirable
  • Rural firefighting experience and qualifications is desirable
  • Fencing skills are desirable
  • Experience in maintaining visitor facilities is desirable
  • Experience and qualifications with use of chainsaws is desirable


Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
