Intelligence Analyst

Counties Manukau District

Permanent, Full-time

Salary range $59,333 - $76,784

Multiple positions available

The New Zealand Police Counties Manukau District Intelligence Unit (CMDIU) has multiple vacancies for motivated Intelligence Analysts. This permanent position is based at the Counties Manukau District Police Station and supports organisational delivery of Our Business.

 

The purpose of the Analyst's role is to contribute to our organisational targets and to prevention and disrupt criminal activity. This is achieved by writing intelligence products that comply with national standards and inform and support prevention, intervention and enforcement activities. You'll be adaptable, enthusiastic, flexible and a fast learner who can easily come to grips with different business needs and processes. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to work across multiple business units.

Skills - you will have the ability to be able to:

  • Demonstrate analytical thinking and apply analytical techniques to interpret information             
  • Research, analyse, and write reports to assist decision makers
  • Manage competing demands and at times, high workload
  • Develop and maintain a wide range of positive relationships (internal and external)
  • Provide clear and concise verbal briefings

 

Experiences - you will have:

  • Used Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Demonstrate ability (qualified Analysts only) to write clear, succinct and accurate
  • Used a variety of tools and techniques to understand a problem, develop solutions and effectively influence and inform decision making (Analysts only)

Special Requirements - applicants must:

  • Hold permanent residency or be a New Zealand citizen
  • Be able to obtain and maintain government security clearances to top secret level
  • Submit a portfolio of work with application to demonstrate analytical capability and demonstrate writing skills (University essays suitable)
  • Hold the New Zealand Diploma of Intelligence Analysis (NZDIA) qualification, or equivalent, or be able to obtain it
  • In the event of operational emergencies, at short notice applicants may be required to work outside standard operating hours and respond to calls, travel domestically, relocated temporarily for unknown duration
  • Applicants may be required to rotationally work shift hours
