Ministerial and Governance Advisor - Joint Venture, Family Violence and Sexual Violence

Wellington based.

The Joint Venture for family and sexual violence is seeking a smart and talented Ministerial and Governance Advisor to provide day to day ministerial services and policy and secretariat support to the Joint Venture and its governance and decision-making structure. The Joint Venture governance structure is made up of senior level people across the government and non-government sectors, including Ministers.

In this role you will handle and respond to ministerial correspondence and official information requests, prepare responses to ministerial and parliamentary questions, handle day to day communication with Minister(s) offices and work across a busy team to deliver quality and well-timed advice to the Joint Venture's governance and decision-making structure. In addition, you will provide support and expertise to government accountability processes - including strategic planning, annual reporting and select committee hearings.

This role will work with other Joint Venture agencies' executive offices, as well as the Joint Venture Lead Minister's office, to support the delivery of effective decision-making by supporting well-organised meetings with attendance, agendas, notes and papers tightly coordinated, and clear and transparent inter-agency communications.

You will support the Director's active leadership of and engagement in Joint Venture governance by coordinating the delivery of a coherent package of policy and investment advice with 100% accuracy and to tight deadlines. 

You will be confident interacting with senior officials and Ministers' offices and have the energy and efficiency to track complex work programmes as they develop. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, good relationship management techniques, be super-organised, have some experience in research, lots of patience and a professional manner.

You will be situated with the Joint Venture Business Unit and will have regular interactions with the Social Wellbeing Board secretariat at the State Services Commission.

This is a development opportunity for a talented and motivated policy advisor or administrator, as these boards are newly formed and are working across government agencies to achieve transformation in the system responses to family violence, sexual violence and violence within and towards whānau.
