Senior Advisor Regional Operations, Care & Protection – Te Tai Tokerau

What you will do?


This newly created position works closely with both the Te Tai Tokerau Regional Manager and Regional Leadership team to support the sites within the region to improve outcomes for tamariki, mokopuna and whānau.


Senior Advisors need to be able to work autonomously whilst gaining the cooperation of others. You will work closely with Site Managers to manage information flow, identify performance improvement opportunities and lead action to implementation. You will be committed to the guiding principles of mana tamaiti, manaakitanga, whakamana tangata, mana whenua – kaitiakitanga and mana motuhake – rangatiratanga shaping social work practice and supporting better outcomes for tamariki.


The successful person will be confident in whānau, hapu, iwi and community settings and will be able to demonstrate an ability to strengthen cultural concepts at both practice and strategic levels. You must be able to handle confidential material in a professional and discrete manner.


Of critical importance will be your ability to independently analyse casework, monitor and review site performance reports, analyse data to identify themes and trends, and be a conduit between national office and the region.


You will have the opportunity to support sites with processes to monitor and manage KPIs, help inform case planning for complex cases specifically for tamariki Māori, provide up to date high quality advice to managers to make informed decisions and continue to improve operational delivery and bring your pragmatic and solutions-focussed approach to life.


What you will bring?
•    Extensive social work experience and practice knowledge
•    Excellent knowledge and understanding of working in partnership with whānau, hapu and iwi
•    Demonstrated ability to compile reports and prepare briefings
•    Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
•    Highly developed organisational skills
•    A master of Excel with excellent analytical skills
•    Process improvement experience
