Job Description

The Team: What we do

We have a fantastic new opportunity for a NZ registered Physiotherapist to join our busy, multi-disciplinary team as a primary contact physiotherapist working across the Emergency Services for a fixed-term period of 12 months. This role has been in existence for just over 12 months and requires an experienced physiotherapist to work in collaboration with other skilled clinicians to help lead a primary and secondary contact physiotherapy service in the Emergency Department (ED). At times you may be expected to cover orthopaedic outpatients and inpatient orthopaedic wards due to service requirements.

A work day will be a 10 hour shift between the hours 0730 and 2000 depending on the roster week. There is a requirement for some weekend work to cover leave between 0800 and 1830.

The Role: Where you fit in

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Delivering of high-quality physiotherapy assessment and management of patients with diverse and complex conditions in the Emergency Department and Orthopaedic Outpatients
  • Assisting and managing available resource within the musculoskeletal inpatient cluster which covers orthopaedics, burns and plastics and ENT
  • Active promotion and coordination of research and quality activities as a key component to optimise outcomes of patients and to help develop the primary contact role in ED
  • You will be a clinical resources person, providing specialist guidance, advice and education to patients, family/whanau, students, staff and the inter-professional team within the Emergency Department and wider musculoskeletal inpatient cluster

Your skills will include the following:

  • The ability to think on your feet and use your initiative to be able to work flexibly with a varied workload
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills and be able to work under pressure
  • It is essential that you are an NZ registered Physiotherapist with Annual Practicing Certificate
