We are looking for a UI Web Designer to join our Web Applications Team. If you are a self-starter with a collaborative working approach and positive ‘can do' attitude, then this could be the role for you!


As a Web Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing user interfaces and improving Ministry websites and web applications. You will also provide expertise and support in usability, accessibility, and E-government web guidelines compliance, as well as championing the ‘voice of the user' from ideation to implementation.


Our ideal candidate will have:


  • Confident communication and relationship management skills with various stakeholders
  • Experience working in an agile IT environment within large government organisations and an understanding of how they work.
  • Experience in using content management systems
  • Good understanding of user-centred design methods and principles
  • Experience conducting user research, facilitating workshops and user testing
  • Experience designing user interface wireframes, user flows and prototypes
  • Proven experience of applying web usability and accessibility standards (W3C and NZGWSR)
  • Proficient skills in Adobe Creative Cloud applications or equivalent
  • Proven experience and understanding of HTML5 and CSS
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycles, web development process and best practices.
