About the role:

This newly created permanent role is in the Strategy, Engagement and Education group within Immigration New Zealand.

As our Principal Planning Advisor, you will lead the development of multi-year plans to enable the successful delivery of Immigration New Zealand's strategy.  

You will work across Immigration New Zealand, MBIE and externally to ensure that strategies and plans are aligned, validated and able to be effectively operationalised.

What you will bring to the role:

You'll be a business planning guru with extensive experience in translating endorsed strategy into action plans “road-mapping” the path and including resource allocation, maintaining a financial overview and engaging with key participants in the organisation.

We are keen to hear from you if you:

  • Have proven planning skills and the ability to  turn complex conceptual strategies into high level “road mapping” to guide and drive our integrated multi-year delivery
  • Are confident building relationships at all levels of the organisation, using negotiation and influence to deliver strategic outcomes
  • Have superior communication, facilitation and coordination skills, leading strategic planning workshops through to the hands on delivery of necessary plans and calendars of activities
  • Can work across Government and within MBIE to drive co-ordination and integration, including alignment to government and MBIE strategic objectives
  • Are a strong systems thinker, able to identify organisational drivers, macro environmental trends and implications
  • Have proven skills in computer software packages, including project management, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Have a relevant tertiary qualification
  • Are a New Zealand Citizen, or hold a residence class visa, and are able to gain and maintain a national security clearance

This position is based in the Strategy, Engagement and Education branch within Immigration New Zealand.

Immigration New Zealand works with international organisations and industry partners to improve border security and make immigration easier. We lead government strategy designed to help migrants settle into New Zealand.
