Salary Range $85,829 - $116,123

The New Zealand Police Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has a vacancy for a fulltime Intelligence Supervisor.


The FIU are the recipient of suspicious activity information that is reported to us from the private financial sector. Using this information we contribute to anti-money laundering efforts, the investigation of organised and transnational criminal groups, and the disruption of terrorist financing through supporting investigations by Police, Government agencies, and international law enforcement.


As the Intelligence Supervisor of the Response and Operations team you will manage the team who receives and responds to requests for information under the AML/CFT Act. You will also manage the allocation of workloads and staffing to ensure the intelligence unit provides reliable accurate and timely intelligence products to decision makers. The FIU is also currently working through a Service Delivery Transformation Project so you will be managing your team through change that is centred on creating efficiencies, without compromising the quality of our products. The purpose of leadership in this role is to support our people in leading the activities of Our Business and enable our people to deliver them



We are looking for an Intelligence professional who:

  • Has superior interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to influence thinking and behaviour
  • Has experience in building and maintaining positive and productive working relationships both internally and externally
  • Inspires and motivates their team and who is committed to staff and development
  • Exercises sound judgement managing the allocation of workloads and staffing
  • Can comprehensively understand, lead and direct intelligence processes and activities

  • Leadership in accordance with the Police High Performance Framework (PHPF)
  • Knowledge of intelligence processes and management
  • Broad based experience in a range of policing activities
  • An ability to develop and maintain relationships with key partners

Additional Information:

  • Applicants must have New Zealand or Australian citizenship or New Zealand permanent residency
  • The successful applicant must satisfactorily meet the Police vetting & reference check requirements
  • The successful applicant will hold or be required to gain a high level National Security Clearance and be able to attend related training
