About the role.

The Refugee Health Liaison Administration Officer, Refugee Health Liaison Team is a team membership role responsible for working collaboratively to provide administrative and financial information management support. The purpose of the team is to work with internal and external partners to coordinate the implementation of a new refugee health services model. From July 2020, New Zealand will increase its refugee quota to 1,500 people per year – this new team and model are crucial to the delivery of this increase.

Reporting to the Refugee Health Medical officer and working closely with colleagues, you will quickly adapt to and learn new systems, working effectively without direct supervision to liaise with internal and external partners in obtaining information and facilitating timely and accurate responses to information queries. You will display a commitment to customer service through excellent written and verbal communication. You will provide file management support according to required standards, ensuring private, confidential and sensitive information is handled appropriately at all times. You will undertake data entry, appointment booking, financial monitoring, reporting and other tasks as requested.

Skills and experience required:

We are keen to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience in medical administration;
  • Knowledge of the New Zealand health system, including experience with Patient Management Systems and a general aptitude for information systems and computer technology;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written,
  • Experience and interest in engaging with a variety of stakeholder types;
  • A positive, solutions-oriented attitude and desire to collaborate with others;
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver against fluctuating workloads in a fast-paced environment through balancing priorities across a team to deliver against shared goals;
  • Strong attention to and appreciation for detail, with accurate and timely data entry skills;
  • A demonstrated commitment to customer service, and the ability to foster positive and professional working relationships that engender trust and confidence with both managers, colleagues and stakeholders; and
  • Superb time management skills, able to manage and meet competing deadlines.

About the team:

The Refugee Health Liaison Administration Officer sits in the Refugee Health Liaison Team, in the Refugee and Migrant Support Unit, within the Refugee and Migrant Services Branch (RMS) of Immigration New Zealand.
