Project Manager - Oranga Tamariki


2 Year Fixed Term Contract | Location: Wellington

About the role:


The Project Management office (PMO) is responsible for developing, integrating and supporting the Oranga Tamariki change programmes. The different projects that the team work on all contribute to better outcomes for our tamariki.  As a Project Manager, PMO your key responsibilities will include:


  • Meeting strategic objectives outlined by Oranga Tamariki
  • Lead project team
  • Reporting and working within budget and constraints
  • Able to identify and develop key stakeholder relationships
  • Identify business needs and creating solutions
  • Risk management

To be considered for the role, you must have had at least 2-3 years proven project management experience managing finance projects (e.g. FMIS implementation) as well as the following: 


  • Experience supporting large change projects and/or a PMO 
  • A clear understanding of financial data
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to find solutions to problems and think on your feet
  • A collaborative approach that leads to bringing the right people together for good outcomes
  • A qualification in Project Management
  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural issues and concerns, in particular, knowledge of tikanga Maori, and Pacific peoples' culture
  • Confidence in tikanga Māori is preferred but not essential.
