Learning Support Service Manager/Learning Support Facilitator

Nelson Marlborough West Coast Region

Fixed Term to 30 June 2020

Based in Nelson


This role presents an exciting and rewarding fixed term opportunity to work in an organisation committed to raising achievement and reducing disparity. We are in the midst of a positive change initiative to implement the Learning Support Delivery Model (LSDM). This model brings early learning services, kōhanga reo, schools and kura together in clusters to work in collaboration with the Ministry, RTLB, other agencies, iwi and service providers, to identify, coordinate and facilitate learning support for local learners and their whānau.


The Learning Support Service Manager (Nelson) will hold a critical function of Learning Support Facilitator which seeks to understand learner need and working with key stakeholders, including Learning Support Co-ordinators, will lead, influence and broker key service supports for local clusters of kura and early learning providers.

The successful applicant will:

  • Manage and lead a committed professional team delivering a range of Learning Support specialist education services to children and young people.
  • Develop a collaborative working relationship with kahui ako, learning support clusters, early childhood providers, and schools local stakeholder groups and learning support co-ordinators with a focus on influencing best practice, supporting innovation and meeting identified need
  • Work with stakeholders and local learning support team to strengthen inclusive practices, build teacher capability, raise student achievement and deliver enhanced outcomes for learners with additional needs
  • Actively participate in the evolution and implementation of the LSDM at local and regional level, being responsive to need, flexible, adaptive and solution focused.
