The High Tech Crime Group is seeking a talented Technical Security Engineer. This role will give you a unique opportunity to work and develop in a key growth area and you will be exposed to technologies and concepts that few other organisations can offer.


You'll have an inquisitive mind, tenacious and enjoy working through the details of problem. This role would suit someone with a computer science background or associated disciple.


You will have a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get involved whatever is needed. This is an operationally focused group so you will need to be able switch priorities and focus quickly.


Skills - the successful candidate for this role will:

  • Be self-motivated and have excellent organisational, research, and communication skills;
  • Pay attention to detail and have the flexibility to cope with change;
  • Have the ability to rapidly absorb, understand and apply new concepts and technologies;
  • Be capable of making sound decisions under pressure;
  • Work well in team environments.


Experience - you will be able to demonstrate the following technical requirements:

  • Broad range of knowledge and experience relating to computer hardware, software and network technologies;
  • Software Development / Reverse Engineering experience;
  • Penetration Testing or security vulnerability identification.


Special Requirements:

  • To be eligible for this role you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively, you must hold NZ Permanent Residence/a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years;
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 10 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed;
  • There may be requirement for a physical and psychological assessment.
