The purpose of the role

We want to be sure the ongoing evolution of Census in New Zealand actively engages with and meets the needs and interests of our communities, cutomers, stakeholders, and partners.

As Team Coordinator, Census Partnerships and Engagement, you will be the heart of the partnerships and engagement team, our go-to problem solver and system builder. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Census Partnerships and Engagement, your commitment and experience in getting stuff done in a complex environment will stand you in good stead as you work to bring together a growing team spread across the country.

As a core member of the Census Partnerships and Engagement team, you will be working in a flexible and agile manner to support us to deliver engagement activites that reach from Te Hapua to Bluff (not forgetting our outlying islands). You will provide event logistics, administrative and coordination support, and monitoring and reporting services to the team.

Person specifications

This position will suit an experienced team coordinator; you will be someone who can:

  • Coordinate events, meetings, training sessions, and forums
  • Travel nationally when required
  • Understand Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Communicate effectively across all sectors of our community with good cultural competence
  • Make sure the right people have the right things in the right place at the right time
  • Plan stuff taking into consideration possible risks and actively working to address them
  • Create systems and order where there isn t any you will love a good process map, a well written report and an organised calendar and you help others where this isn t their strength
  • Be our go-to person who supports us solve problems in real time
  • Work flexibly you won t need a desk to get the job done
  • Understand the big picture and how things link together but be fantastic at the details
  • Use Microsoft like a whizz and is familiar with Teams
