Data Analyst – Financial Intelligence Unit

Police National Headquarters

Wellington

Salary Range: $75,594.00 - $106,332.00

Permanent, Fulltime

The New Zealand Police Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has a vacancy for a Data Analyst based at Police National Headquarters. This is an exciting and new opportunity to help build data analytics expertise within the FIU, working alongside our intelligence analysts and support staff.

 

The FIU is the recipient of transaction and suspicious activity information reported to us from across the financial sector. Using this information, we contribute to anti-money laundering efforts, the disruption of terrorist financing, and the dismantling of organised and transnational criminal groups, through supporting investigations across Police, government agencies and international law enforcement.

 

With a recent upgrade of our software, and future plans to expand on this through data integration, we require a range of technical expertise to understand our unique intelligence needs and help design innovative solutions to meet them. This role would suit an analyst who is comfortable operating in an environment of rapid change, has strong attention to detail, and takes a service-focused approach.

 

 

To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Data extraction and analysis skills, including use of Excel, SQL, SAS and other analytical platforms
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Some data visualisation experience is preferable
  • Strong consultative approach and customer service skills
