Job Description

What you will do

As the Training Management Officer you will ensure that training and professional development offerings fit the changing needs of the Branch and are appropriate to the needs of staff.  You will be solely responsible for identifying, sourcing, organising and managing the delivery of specialist training from external providers.  You will facilitate workshops or learning modules for staff and be responsible for maintaining the Skills Framework and Development Matrix.
 
There are some administrative duties associated with the role.

What we need

To be successful in this role, you will be an excellent communicator who has the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders across an organisation. You will need to have: 

  • Experience in a training or staff development role;
  • Ability to conduct a learning needs analysis;
  • Great organising and administrative skills;
  • The ability to research, evaluate, organise and analyse information;
  • Competence facilitating or presenting to groups of people;
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience.

Capability Branch manages the New Zealand Defence Force's military capability upgrade and renewal programmes and projects.  The NZDF works very closely with the Ministry of Defence in undertaking these programmes and projects.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
