Job Description

Ma tau rourou, ma taku rourou, ka ora te iwi (with your contribution and my contribution the people will prosper)

  • Are you driven and curious, keen to use or build your knowledge about the primary industry, and good at getting to the heart of an issue?

Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team

The Animal Sector policy team works across New Zealand's land-based primary sectors, including meat, dairy and wool, as well as newer and more niche industries. We work with stakeholders and government agencies to develop and implement policy initiatives to address complex problems. This includes legislative and regulatory frameworks that support dynamic efficiency, growth and development in the primary sectors.

Some of our current projects include working with the dairy herd improvement sector to ensure the New Zealand dairy herd is fit for the future, and investigating ways to support the performance of the wool industry.  Along with these projects, we provide advice and analysis on a range of issues relating to the animal-based sectors, often at short notice.

We are an exciting, vibrant and fast-moving place to work and we are looking for someone who'll thrive in this environment.

Ko te tangata mo tēnei tūranga? - Who are we looking for?

  • The ability to manage your effort to deliver work to a high standard and on time, both independently and with the support of others.
