About us

The Funding and Programme Delivery group provides support for people who have the greatest housing needs, by funding the delivery of public housing, transitional housing, and housing related support services to tackle homelessness in New Zealand. To do this, they partner with Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities, community and transitional housing providers, developers, social services, councils and other agencies. The group works closely with HUD's policy groups to help inform advice to the Government on preventing and reducing homelessness, and to ensure policies and interventions are targeted to the places that need it most.

About the roles

The Programme Data and Reporting team plays an important role within Funding and Programme Delivery, the team produces reporting on the performance of the public housing system. This reporting ensures transparency for New Zealanders, Ministers, our partners and suppliers, as well as providing insight and monitoring for our leaders and colleagues within the organisation.

We're looking for a Senior Advisor and an Advisor. The Senior Advisor will be responsible for working on emerging operational and policy projects and will use your leadership and influencing skills to ensure the right considerations are given to the data and reporting requirements for supporting or monitoring an initiative. With a customer-centric approach, you will drive for high-quality reports that focus on the needs of the audience.

The Advisor will be responsible for assisting with high level analysis and reporting on the progress of initiatives and programmes. 

About You

Both candidates will need to have experience monitoring, analysing and reporting on business performance and will have a proven track record of developing robust reports using data analytics. Your strong relationship management ability will see you look for ways you can collaborate with other groups to ensure a consistent approach to data analytics and insights.

Your background will include:

  • Experience providing advice on the best use of available data to address different business issues
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A proven ability to develop and lead portfolios or areas of work (senior)
  • Experience in and knowledge of public sector reporting processes. A solid understanding of research methods including qualitative and quantitative methods, ethics, survey management, managing outsourced experts, using the New Zealand Integrated Data Infrastructure (senior)
  • Exceptional written ability (senior)
  • The ability to translate technical information into plain English
  • Assist with the provision of information requests
  • A collaborate approach to your work
  • An understanding of different reporting tools especially Excel and SQL
  • Extensive computer literacy, especially in data extraction/reporting software.
