Employment Coordinator

Permanent, Full Time, Palmerston North

Do you want to help make a significant difference in the lives of at-risk rangatahi.

We have a rewarding position for you to build positive stakeholder relationships at our residence Te Au Rere A Te Tonga.

About us:
Te Au Rere A Te Tonga is one of four youth justice residences across New Zealand which is run by Oranga Tamariki—Ministry For Children. We provide a secure 24 hour a day; 7 day per week environment for youth offenders aged 14-18. The residence promotes individual change and growth through specialist education services, clinical services, individual and group programmes, and physical activities.
Our ultimate goal is to help every young person we work with to realise their potential. We help them transition into education, training, or employment, and to a safe and stable living arrangement when they leave our care.

The Role:
The Employment Coordinator assesses the work readiness of young people, and supports them to find employment opportunities. Working with our team of Case Leaders and the Care Team, the Employment Coordinator is the link to identifying and accessing vocational and employment opportunities for young people transitioning back into their local communities.

About you:
Applicants should have experience in assessing employment skills, understanding and experience of connecting with Industry Training Organisations and recruitment agencies, and knowledge of Work and Income products and services.
