About Us:
Oranga Tamariki operates four Youth Justice residences across New Zealand for youth offenders aged 14 to 18 years. Our residences are strongly focussed on providing a trauma informed model of care which encourages achieving positive change in young people through education, skill development, therapeutic interventions, vocational and employment programmes with the goal of positive integration back into the community.
We are looking to recruit for the key role of Programme Coordinator.  This role works closely with the clinical team and is responsible for sourcing and arranging the provision of programmes to address behavioural difficulties, increase positive behaviour, and meet therapeutic and rehabilitative needs.


About the Role:
The Programme Coordinator works closely with external providers, residential team leaders, case leaders and care teams to ensure programmes and content are relevant to behavioural plans, interventions and the needs of young people.  Fostering key relationships and networks with external providers of programmes is vital along with the ability to review and monitor programme delivery and outcomes.


Key requirements of the role include:

  • Understanding and appreciation of cross cultural issues and concerns, in particular, knowledge of tikanga Maori, the kawa of local iwi, and Pacifica community
  • Knowledge of, and established links to, community networks and experience working in collaboration and conjunction with community service providers, other government departments, including effective work in cross cultural environments and contexts
  • Understanding of the statutory role and objectives of Oranga Tamariki
  • Clinical and therapeutic experience in a multi disciplinary setting with children and adolescents to address complex behavioural issues
  • Demonstrated ability to practice ethically and maintain professional boundaries
  • Ability to demonstrate a high degree of consistency in behaviour at all times and act as a clear role model, generating confidence and commitment of others through his/her own ethical conduct
  • Ability to consistently exercise discretion and be able to earn the trust of children, young persons and other staff

A relevant tertiary qualification is essential and registration with a professional body is desired. A full, clean driver's licence is also required.
