Ko wai mātou | About us

Manatū Taonga is a relatively small ministry with a broad mandate, wide reach and a big heart. With around 140 staff, we operate a lean and flat structure, with the added advantage of knowing everyone by name.

Our work is diverse – we support many of New Zealand's art, media, heritage and sports organisations; we also advise government on cultural matters and provide historical and heritage resources for everyone to access. We work to promote a confident and connected culture and to support more New Zealanders to connect with the culture and heritage of Aotearoa.
