Job Description

We're looking for a Design Analyst

If you're keen to have a hand in how Stats NZ steward data and would like to be a crucial link between our suppliers and Stats NZ, come work with Integrated Data. We're looking for someone to join the Integrated Data (ID) unit to help us bring in data safely and efficiently, and to continue to do so through some pretty big changes in the way we manage data.

The role will be in the Integrated Data Customer Liaison team, and you'll be working alongside a Data Wrangler as part of a new piece of work, structured around Trust and Transparency of integrated data use. You'll also be working across the unit, with other Design Analysts and Data Wranglers in our Service Delivery team.

We're looking for someone with a good sense of data stewardship, a knack for relationship management, and an eye for efficiency to help us design and improve processes to show New Zealand - and our suppliers - that we take our role as Kaitiaki seriously.

Specifically we'll be looking for someone that is comfortable fronting up to suppliers and working across our Customer Liaison and Service Delivery teams - driving change in both. You'll be helping bring a supplier and social licence view to how we bring data in, as we move towards using new tools in the transformation of our core Integrated Data product, the Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI).

ID is going to have the technical ability to bring in much larger amounts of data, and we want to ensure our people, processes and suppliers are ready.

As a Design Analyst you will be:

  • building a system overview and a feel for how things fit together
  • bringing a data stewardship lens to our data handling processes
  • designing improvements based on feedback from customers and suppliers
  • working with Data Wranglers to design the implementation for these improvements
  • working directly with customers and stakeholders, within ID, across the business and externally

The role will be permanent, Wellington-based and full time.
