Keeping New Zealand in business for good

Working at the Department of Internal Affairs, you ll have the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of New Zealanders.

  • Join a dynamic and modern regulator committed to helping prevent the harm caused by money laundering and the financing of terrorism;
  • Bring your experience and can-do attitude to a work place that cares about you and your well-being;
  • Work in an environment designed for today s work style in a great location close to amenities and transportation options.

Working for Regulatory Services at the Department of Internal Affairs you ll have the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of New Zealanders and the businesses we supervise.

We re looking for an experienced professional who can translate issues and opportunities into work programmes that make a difference and leverage the skills and ambitions of people in our Regulatory Services team.

We are part of Regulatory Services and are one of the New Zealand Government s larger regulatory bodies. We promote effective regulatory outcomes in three broad systems: anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism, gambling and digital safety.

The Department is now the supervisor for the largest number of New Zealand businesses that must comply with the AML/CFT Act 2009. In this role you will be part of a focused team that delivers innovative and effective engagement to build a safe, prosperous, and respected nation. The work you do will increase New Zealanders trust and confidence in our regulated sectors, enhance New Zealand s international reputation, and help New Zealand businesses minimise the opportunity for criminals to launder money and finance terrorism through the products and services they provide.

You will deliver engagement initiatives to deepen sector knowledge and capability through collaboration, creative thinking and problem solving. You ll also champion continuous improvement in everything you do.

You will have:

  • A high standard of verbal & written communication skills including strong attention to detail;
  • Proven ability to build deep knowledge of the external environment and translate that into your work;
  • Sound critical thinking and problem-solving skills to work across varied, & often complex, multi-dimensional requirements;
  • Self-motivation, drive, positive attitude, & the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;
  • To have current working rights to work in NZ.
