Job Description

Who we are

At PHARMAC we really care about the best possible healthcare for New Zealanders. Our job is to make responsible choices and our team delivers a lot with the judicious use of resources. It's not always easy as our decisions impact on people, families, whanau and our wider society - we take that responsibility very seriously.

We work with others in the health sector, we use robust evidence-based processes and we never stop using our ingenuity to make things better. We have built a highly successful and unique organisation and our contribution continues to grow. We have always done things in new and different ways and that's not going to change. Everything else is up for discussion.

Position Details

This role as Procurement Manager/Team Leader provides a fantastic opportunity to lead PHARMAC's procurement function for new and unique lines of business across PHARMAC and the wider health sector.

Working across a diverse business we require a procurement all-rounder to lead a small team responsible for leading the procurement process and commercial strategies for community medicines, hospital medicines and feeding in to a wider programme around medical devices to ensure optimum value for money is gained. This is very much a hands-on role and will require the successful person to be heavily involved in the procurement process. Advantageous to this will be a general understanding of the public sector structure (in particular health) and function.

This is an internal/external facing role therefore requires excellent relationship management/negotiation skills as your engagement with medical suppliers will ensure value is optimised across the supplier base. It is a largely autonomous role that allows you enough scope to truly manage and foster supplier relationships. Coupled with this you will be able to hone your leadership qualities managing a highly effective team.

The role would also provide the opportunity to apply strategic and tactical application to develop the systems and processes required to lead the team into the future.

Applications close 5pm Sunday 1 March 2020. Please apply via our Career's Page as we will not be checking applications that apply directly through Govt Jobs.,7903.html
