WorkSafe New Zealand is looking for a Solicitor, Prosecutions Support for our Legal Group in Wellington. This is an opportunity to join our collegial and professional team and play a role in shaping an area of law that directly affects all New Zealanders.

In this position you will be responsible for providing legal support to Solicitors and WorkSafe. You will support the operations of the group in the delivery of cost effective, efficient and high quality legal services.  This will include court appearances as well as:

  • Working with prosecutors and the Inspectorate to support the prosecution process
  • Drafting court documents and preparing disclosure
  • Providing general legal services to WorkSafe, including review of documentation, providing legal advice and undertaking legal research.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Be eligible to hold a practising certificate (essential)
  • Have the ability to build strong internal and external relationships
  • Be passionate about making a difference in health and safety
  • Have 1-2 years' legal or public sector experience (an advantage but not essential)
