We have an exciting permanent role for a talented, engaging, and constructive individual. We are looking for a Senior Adviser within the Plant Germplasm Imports Team, in the Plants & Pathways Directorate who has experience and knowledge of the seed industry.  The role is responsible for managing the biosecurity risk to New Zealand through the development and review of import standards and requirements for seeds for sowing, and plants for planting entering NZ. 

This role is based in Wellington and some domestic and international travel may be required.

 

Mōu - About You

In this role you will use your degree in plant pathology, entomology, plant biology (or related discipline) and your experience operating in a regulatory environment, and in the seed industry.  You will also be able to demonstrate the practical application of:

  • Translating complex technical information into simple terms for audiences at all levels
  • Negotiating
  • Problem solving and a ‘can do' attitude
  • Managing competing priorities in the work plan
  • Developing import requirements
  • Assisting in bilateral discussions
  • Knowledge/understanding of biological systems

The salary for this role is circa $91,000 to $107,000 depending on skills and experience
