The Team: What we do

We have an exciting opportunity for an Allied Health Assistant to join us at Burwood Hospital as part of our wider Older Person's Health and Rehabilitation Service. This role is within an inpatient setting working with older people who have multiple medical conditions and have had significant events leading to a hospital admission. You will work closely with a team of Occupational Therapists and be part of a wider multidisciplinary team.

We have two permanent full-time opportunities available working 40 hours per week. The days and hours required are Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 16:00.

Applicants who do not hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Well-being (Level three) Health Assistance Strand from Careerforce will be required to enrol in this course if successful in being appointed.

The Role: Where you fit in

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Assisting with treatment and rehabilitation programmes under the direction of the Occupational Therapist
  • Management/tracking of the equipment pool
  • Installing equipment into patients homes and teaching patients how to utilise equipment safely and effectively
  • Updating patient notes as required
  • Completion of required Careerforce training

Your skills will include the following:

  • The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • A passion for healthcare and improving the well-being of the community
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow direction is essential
  • The ability to work autonomously where required
  • Previous experience in a similar position within healthcare is advantageous or an understanding of disability related needs
  • As some travel is required in this position, a full New Zealand driver's licence with the ability to drive a manual car is essential
