Health is a 24/7 business and Canterbury Health Laboratories is no exception! We're on the lookout for a NZ registered Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our Core Biochemistry Laboratory.

The Medical Laboratory Scientist is an important member of our CHL team. We provide 24/7 service to the hospital and the community which includes high volume automation as well as some manual testing. Our primary focus is to provide the best service possible for the care of the patient.

We have a fixed-term part-time opportunity working 24 hours per week until approximately May 2021 covering parental leave. The days required for this position are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8.00 am to 4.30pm.

The Role: Where you fit in

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Performing analysis by utilising various analysers and stat instruments
  • Carrying out troubleshooting of tests and equipment, complying with service/laboratory protocols
  • Adhering to and maintaining laboratory quality assurance procedures
  • Demonstrating a commitment to providing a high-quality service to our clients

Your skills will include the following:

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Registration with the New Zealand Medical Science Council (NZMSC) as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with a current practicing certificate is essential
  • Experience in Biochemistry laboratory procedures would be advantageous
