The Data and Digital directorate leads, supports and advises health and disability sector transformation through the use of data, digital services and technology.


The Engagement Manager will work with the Data and Digital Directorate to develop effective communication and engagement strategies and planning that support and reflect the Directorate's strategic direction and goals. The role works closely with the Deputy Director-General and senior managers to provide expert advice to identify and support their internal and external engagement needs. The role also supports the Directorate to develop their understanding and capability around effective stakeholder management. The Directorate has a strong presence in a number of forums, and a key part of the role will be developing presentations and conference addresses.


The role of Engagement Manager is a new role that is responsible for leading all engagement activities within the Data and Digital Directorate, and between the Directorate, the Ministry, the DHBs and the wider health sector.


To be successful, you will bring skills in planning effective communication and engagement strategies, and in leading effective engagement programmes. You will have excellent relationship management skills, the demonstrable ability to analyse and interpret complex issues and the ability to present information in simple and clear ways to enable effective decisions. You will be able to share your expertise to support building the capability of others. Experience of the New Zealand health system is desirable, but not essential if you bring the right skills.
