Here at Inland Revenue (IR) we are well advanced into a multi-year business transformation which will modernise our entire operation. As a customer-centric organisation, IR's goal is to give customers the best possible experience when using the NZ tax system. This is resulting in significant changes to how we operate and engage with customers, and the way that our people undertake their work.

In order to support our transforming organisation, we are looking for a Technology Specialist to join the Service Delivery and Integration Management (SIDM) function which sits within the Information Technology & Change (IT&C) group.

About the role

The SIDM function ensures the integration across IR's Primary Services and works with our business stakeholders and key suppliers to ensure that all our technical services operate efficiently and effectively.

To succeed in this role, you will be a strong technical specialist who excels at both analytical and system thinking and have in-depth knowledge of the end-to-end service lifecycle. You will have a high level of understanding and credibility within an operational ICT environment. You are a natural problem-solver and can comfortably advise the business on complex technical issues that may arise, ensuring that risks are identified and mitigated.

You will enable our customers and people to use our Core Tax and Social Policy service effectively, by ensuring Core Tax and Policy Infrastructure services are designed, built, deployed and operated safely and securely. You will ensure these services are effectively integrated with our START, Access & Authentication and Gateway Services.

What you'll need to bring to the role

  • Experience providing technical advice and input into services, working collaboratively with other Technical Specialists to ensure integration integrity between services
  • Working with our service partners to assist in optimising service performance and provide operational effectiveness and efficiencies
  • Experience in management of incidents and problems and performing root cause analysis
  • Developing and enhancing partner and vendor relationships, dealing with complex issues and making quality decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working within an ITIL aligned service management framework
